Politically empower the Latino community in all facets of life in Southern Nevada
celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions

National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries.

The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988.

Hispanics In Politics (HIP), Nevada’s oldest Latino political organization founded in August 1980, is celebrating 41 years of advocacy, service and contributions to our Latino community and the State of Nevada. This remarkable year, HIP will be joining the 62.1 million Hispanics/Latinos in the United States in unity to celebrate our culture and our heritage. (The Latino population grew 23% since the 2010 census, while the population that is not Latino grew 4% in the same time period.) We invite you to be a part of our HISPANIC Heritage Month Festival by financially contributing to our event.
