President

Fernando Romero, is a native of El Paso, Texas and a 54-year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, where for fifty-three of those years he has actively participated in numerous education, civic, social and political organizations with the goal of informing, educating, advocating for and empowering the Hispanic community. Fernando continues an even more intense level of participation to this date.

Fernando is a 1970 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where in 1969 he co-founded the UNLV Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and where he is also the founder of the Student Organization of Latinos, a student advocacy organization that is Nevada’s oldest Latino organization that continues to be active in many high schools. His community involvement started in 1969 when he volunteered to direct the Nevada Association of Latin Americans' education, civic, social service and employment agency. In 1974, he became one of the pioneers of Spanish language radio, hosting a program that brought news and music from throughout the Spanish-speaking world to Las Vegas at a time when Spanish language newspapers, radio and television were non-existent in Southern Nevada.

Fernando's history of striving to enhance the educational, cultural, social and political needs of his community has been amplified many times over and include, but are not limited to, his active present and past participation and involvement in the following

Fernando is married to Maria Guadalupe and have a son, Erick, a 11th grade Magnate School student at East Career Technical Academy. He has three other children, Miguel, UNLV School of Architecture, Eva, Pepperdine Cum Laude and Wm. Boyd School of Law, Attorney; and Anthony, Sophomore, Southern Utah University.
